Digital Public Services Switzerland follows a networked, nationwide approach. It coordinates the steering of the digital transformation between and within the institutional levels, giving them a say and the opportunity to help shape developments. It creates added value for the general public, businesses and public administrations, and promotes collaboration across the different levels of government.

At the founding event in Bern on 21 November 2024, Federal Councillor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider emphasised the importance of close cooperation between the federal government, cantons, associations and the private sector to achieve this goal. Since 2010, the eGovernment MONITOR has been comparing the use and provision of eGovernment services in three countries: Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The latest comparative study was conducted in May 2024. For this purpose, a total of around 10,000 people, including around 1,000 people in Switzerland, were asked about their experiences of using eGovernment services. The study was published on 8 October 2024 by Initiative D21 and the Technical University of Munich. Compared to previous years, the demands in terms of the digitalisation of public services have increased in all three countries.
